First identity as default after each outgoing call

With another SIP phone (having two identities) I was used to its behavior that each outgoing call is automatically carried out via identity 1. To dial via another identity requires a key to be hit.

With Snom (710) a chosen identity is valid until another identity is selected. This is not good in cases where identity 1 is a truly main identity for a given environment. Accidental calls from one of the secondary identities result in this.

If the preferred behavior cannot be configured, this post is a feature request (for currently supported phones)-

Hi,

You can achieve this using the Action URL functionality, in particular you can set the phone to send an http command setting the first identity as the "default" one every time a call is disconnected.

To do so, you can set this parameter

https://service.snom.com/display/wiki/action_disconnected_url

To the following http command

http://phone_IP/dummy.htm?settings=save&active_line=1&store_settings=save

Where the "phone_IP" is the IP address of your phone.

Thank you

Hm, cool feature, just like a hook script... Opens up quite some interesting possibilities.

However, currently I'm stuck with the fact that the phone requests a HTTP login when the hook is triggered...

Hi,

This mean the phone has http credentials, please then use the following http command

http://username:password@phone_IP/dummy.htm?settings=save&active_line=1&store_settings=save

You can find out more about the possibility to control a phone remotely here and about the Action URL here

Many thanks for your assistance!

No login problem any more, but the phone does not respond to any setting.

Then I got the idea to enter the URL line into the browser. Which should result in action just when I hit the Enter key. The browser says that the server (the phone) terminates the connection (ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE).

FYI: Firmware is latest (8.9.3.80).

That's it! Many thanks!

I'd want to pack some of these hints onto the wiki page related to URL actions (but the wiki seems not to offer a register opportunity).

General remarks:

  • The user:password@-formatting is known from e.g. command line logins (usually without password - ssh), but I didn't know that it applies equally well to URLs
  • This hook architecture introduces security issues... (e.g. readable password), but since I'm running a small local network behind a NAT, the risk is quite negligible.
  • Hard to understand that the need of credentials is even given when the URL is fired from the telephone itself; not from remote. Finally we discuss actions that the user itself can do by keystrokes...

Hi,

Thank you for reporting back, I will ask our team to add this to the Action URL and Remote Control pages for future reference so it will be easier to set this up using our documentation.

Thank you.

Final note (I forgot this in the list):

  • store_settings=save is not strictly necessary. Changes are executed without it, but of course not persistant over power cycles. But for a couple of parameters (like here) persistant storage is not necessary. Using this store_settings sparsely will help to save life impairing flash programming actions...
