we have some problems with the configuration of background image, because in our scenario, we have a Voice Vlan and a Data Vlan.
I used a Web server into the Data Vlan, but it's not alway avaiable for the phones, so it losts the picture.
Also, I tried to put the image on a website, but our Voice Vlan has restrictions and again I can't get the file.
You should add an Upload Form to change the background (like in web management of phone I already Used, es Yealink T46S), just like the file upload also avaiable in the account, or in the phonebook page.
Also a good features I found in Yealink T46S, is the Screen Saver, where I can upload several images (again, via upload form).
Hello, we are glad to inform you that uploading background image and icons (~1800) is now possible, with latest release 10.1.42.14:
Release note excerpt:
SAP-3431: It is now possible to upload and configure custom images/icons on the phone, see WUI: Preferences/Appearance/Custom images (or directly: /image_upload.htm), for more info please see Uploading custom images
Direct link to our Service Hub article is: https://service.snom.com/display/wiki/Uploading+custom+images
Thanks and best regards,
I am attaching an example tar archive for D785. You will need to replace the picture in the archive with your own and re-create the archive. Once you have uploaded the archive, don't forget to adjust the transparency for the background under Preferences -> Appearance -> Background color (decrease the fourth value for example to 40, or 0)
We don't have a screen saver but maybe the demo mode could be something interesting for you: http://wiki.snom.com/Version10_Initial/Features/Demo_Mode
I've just read the guide on Wiki, but in the example, there's no link to the D785 archive.
I've tried to dowload a different TAR, but I see a lot of reference to the specific phone (820).
Can I use this archive on D785 ?
By the way, this procedure is not easy and fast as on the Yealink for the scenarios in which we install the phones.
Also a features like a screen saver would be tempting for customers who have spaces open to the public.
Thank you for the feedback.
It is also possible to upload a background image via Branding, see more information here: http://wiki.snom.com/Category:HowTo:Branding . This would allow you to upload the image only once and then it would be saved on the phone.
