Upgrade from 6.5 to 7 fails on snom 320

Hi,

I'm having isues upgrading the firmware on my snom 320 device, details below:

Phone Type: snom320-SIP

MAC-Address: 000413245A0F

IP-Address: 192.168.9.124

Kernel Version: snom320 linux undef

Application-Version: snom320-SIP 6.5.8

Rootfs-Version: snom320 ramdisk v3.31

Firmware-URL: http://downloads.snom.com/fw/snom320-7.3.30-SIP-bf.bin

Production Information: Mac:000413245A0F;Version:Standard;Hardware:snom320 (MB V1.0_K7,KB V1.0_L4-NC);Lot: 26.01.06

If I try to update to v7, keeps on telling me "wrong image" and followed this documentation: http://wiki.snom.com/Firmware/V7/Update_Description#Manual_Update

What else can I try?

Thanks.

Johann,

Are you using this method?

Hi,

Yes I did try that but just times out, what do I miss somewhere?

Johann

Johan,

Can you manually upgrade to 6.5.20 and then try the update_once.php script

"

The full process of updating from v6 to v7 requires the following steps:

  1. snom3X0-6.5.20-SIP-j.bin: Application part which introduces the new firmware format, which is needed for the below update to v7.

Hi,

Thanks but I done that as well. Still no go.

Any other suggestions?

Johann

Johann,

You could try a tftp upgrade to 6.5.20

Hi,

I've done that as well, it was on a lower version of 6, done hte TFTP update to 6.5.20 but doesn't want to update to 7.

Any other ideas?

Johann

Johann,

Is the phone being Provisioned on your Network? Possibly the firmware settings are Write protected and/or being Provisioned to the phone in question.

Hi,

Provisioning is turned on, but fails. Counts down from 5. Can I set the firmware write protected settings or not?

Did you came accross something like this previously or not?

Johann

Johann,

Have a look at the Wiki articles on the phone's boot sequence, provisioning and permissions flags.

http://wiki.snom.com/Features/Auto_Provisioning/Bootup

http://wiki.snom.com/Mass_Deployment

http://wiki.snom.com/Features/Mass_Deployment/Setting_Files/XML/Flags

Set the Syslog on the phone to DEBUG2 level 9, reboot the phone and see if the phone is loading its settings from a Provisioning Server. See if the setting for firmware is being provisioned or Write protected.
