Snom does support LDAP directory lookup for ages. It also supports vCard import.
However, it seems that CardDAV is becoming increasingly common, particularly in small to medium-sized enterprises .
Therefore I propose adding native CardDAV support to Snom phones in order to lookup contacts stored on CardDAV-based servers. Part of the required code should already be available with the existing support of vCard (data storage format) and LDAP (lookup mechanism) and may be (re)used.
Many groupware solutions targeted at this kind of customers (take ownCloud/NextCloud/*Cloud as an example) support CardDAV instead of LDAP. These groupware solutions become increasingly popular as they facilitate syncing with mobile devices, where the CalDAV and CardDAV protocol family excels. It is only natural that these kind of customers wish to sync their business telephones with the same dataset as they sync their mobile phones with.
Thank you for the suggestion and details. We have an open feature request for this in our system, with ID SCPP-3560. We don't have an estimation for the implementation yet.
We are looking for a solution to look up contacts in an external directory. We looked at LDAP but for us, that infrastructure is quite complex. XCAP has the problem of 2000 contacts. The best solutions for us is CARDDAV. Is there any time frame when are planning to implement this feature.
Unfortunately we don't have any time frame yet. Our development receives many feature requests and it is always a challenge to prioritize them. If you would like to discuss your business case and request for a higher priority I would suggest to contact your Snom sales representative.
Are there already some news available about CardDAV implementation?
Since CardDAV/WebDAV is able to handle XML, maybe it could be easy to implement that feature...
it's in our roadmap but we don't have an estimation for the implementation yet.
That would be also very cool for us!!
Please give it more Priority. ;-)
Thank you for the comment. I passed it to development :)
...5 Month ago? A Simple Fritzbox provide that feature since YEARS,
and ALSO LINKSYS / cisco has ist since Month.
Maybe we should sell that phones in future?
Snom Dev. is really really really slow in the last time. And then after Years there is a great ne Feature: You can dial the LAST dialed number by pressing the redial button twice!
WOW. But sorry. ALL of OUR snom Phones can that since their birth!!! :-(
So please hurry up a little, or the feature will pass snom by. :-)
Some new informations would be nice

Any news on that?
Maybe you better ask 2053 again... :'( That request is only since 2 years pending...
In fact of, it takes snom years to fix simple other bugs,
I don't think that it comes much earlier.
This is the only feature preventing me from committing to any particular phone solution. LDAP is far too clunky to deploy in a small business environment, so whichever manufacturer implements something simple to deploy and administer (like CardDAV) gets my business. Keep dragging your feet Snom, I'm actually pretty close to pulling the trigger on one of your competitors. They're not using CardDAV (which I would prefer) but something at least better than LDAP.
