D715 Directory Sort order

A client who has been using D715s with internal directories on each phone has recently began experiencing problems. Latest firmware hasn't resolved it.

The directory sort order ALWAYS displays as Firstname Familyname.

The *order* changes, but the display is always Firstname Familyname.

Using the keypad allows you to search - but uses the *displayed* values instead of the sorted order.

So sorting by Familyname

  • Cccc Baa
  • Bbbb Bbb
  • Aaaa Bcc

Pressing the B key takes you to the second item - not the first...

There is no way to sort the directory and use the keypad to gain access to the Familynames, making the phone-based directory useless for any decent number of entries.

This worked in the past - when did it break? and can I go back to that firmware from ?

Dear Craig,

this is a know issue SCPP-8396 and we're working on it.

With version or previous, this bug is not present.

Dear Craig,

you can download it here.

Please note that this is an old version, just for testing purpose.

Hello Craig,

please note that your reported issue is an result / side-effect of an required ongoing rework of the local directory functionality and presentation.

So it will work different overall, but we expect to have recovered the "keypad jump" as it was in previous firmware versions (e.g.

Please use the version available via the following link for your verification. Your feedback is very welcome! This version can be considered as an hot-fix, but as that is not Snom supported for productive roll-out. It is missing full QA run, vs. Release and Service Pack 1:

Thank you for your cooperation and comprehension!

Greetings from Berlin,
Jan Boguslawski

Hello. I know this is an old thread, but it is totally related to my problem. I have lots of old snom phones of different models, having same directory issues. most of them are not compatible with new firmware v10. I updated one of the snom710 phones to the v8.9.3.88 version and it solved the issue. but I don't see this firmware for snom720/snom300/snom320/snom360/snom370 and such!

Hello Hassan,

the background for the "seems firmware is missing" issue can be understand by reviewing the Snom product life cylce:

All models you mentioned are End of Life, the 360 even since:  12 / 2013 !

We suggest you to contact your Snom sales contacts and request information regarding "Snom Exchange Program", our trade-in-offer for EoL models.

This way you can get new and Version 10 supported models with great discount, due to decommission the old phones.

Wishing you a good start into the new week.

Thanks and greetings from Berlin,
