SNOM 300 dhcp provisioning

Hi!

a future client has asked if our PBX system supports Snom phones (300) and has send me one for testing it. They have the latest firmware 8.7.5.35.

I'm having two main issues making it work:

- First, I'm not able to use OPTION 66 in the dhcp for autoconfiguring it, it does updated the update_server, but it doesn't go to that server via tftp.

- Second, after configuring manually the server, it asks for the configuration file based in the mac, but in uppercase, (e.g. AA12BB34CC) instead in lowercase, in my snom300.htm file I've the following:

<file url="tftp://IP_ADDRESS_OF_MY_SERVER/{mac}.xml" />

Is there another variable aside from {mac} that is the mac in lowercase?

Thanks in advance!

Hello Koldo,

if your switch is advertising the voice VLAN via LLDP-MED the phone will "obey" to the policy and reboot into the Voice VLAN.

Are you experiencing issues ?

Which fw version are you using ?

Hi Koldo,

thanks for contacting us.

- about the {mac} upper/lower case: the phone support uppercase only at the moment.

- what value are you passing into the option 66 ? have you looked at the phone logs ?

Please let us know,

Thanks

Hi!

I have tried:

   option 66 ascii "my_server_ip_address"

   option 66 ascii "tftp://my_server_ip_address"

Also adding option 67 with the path to the snom300.htm file.

In status -> settings I see the following:

setting_server!: http://provisioning.snom.com/snom300/snom300.php?mac={mac}

update_server!: my_server_ip_address

In the logs I don't see anything related to trying to use my update_server:

The vlan where the phone is doesn't have internet connection so it doesn't progress further.

Am I understanding wrong the provisioning procedure?

 Hi again,

I'm making more tests and now it seems to works... I'm gonna continue to do some test tomorrow but do I need to let the phone restart itself multiple times ?

I noticed one reboot after detecting the LLDP config but it seemed that it doesn't get past that after getting the right IP but maybe I wasn't giving enough time?

Thanks for your help!

Hello Pietro,

seems that everything is working fine now.

- I do a factory reset of the phone

- First reboots and gets a normal IP address, a couple of minutes later I get the message "new policy detected -> Rebooting"

- It reboots in the voice vlan and gets an Voice IP address

- After more minutes (and this is where I was stuck), it reboots again and goes to my provisioning server/pbx and downdloads it's configuration

I've to make a couple of test more but seems that I need to wait more for the autoconfiguration part.

Thanks for all the support !

Hello Koldo,

I have the exact same problem. But as long as I wait, the phones won't get the setting URL. Could you explain more, how you could solve it?
